Can you guess who that is? Well, he is in one of my favorite movies of all time: Stand by me. Furtherore he will star in the upcoming show Do Not Disturb.
But on top of that, after a while this guy came in and sat down at another table:
That's right, Joshua Jackson who will be in Lost creator J. J. Abrams' next show called Fringe which is a bit like X-Files. Fortuntely, I have already seen the first episode and was not that impressed. Partly also due to the fact that Jackson really doesn't fit into the role he is playing. Abrams should have cast someone else.
Last but not least I saw one of my childhood idols at a restaurant called Pastis in the meatpacking district of Manhatten. Back in the day the butchers processed meat in that area but all that has changed. Now it has a lot restaurants, bars and clubs that attract a more yuppie crowd. But enough NYC history, I saw no other than:
Boris Becker. He was enjoying lunch with his kids. No woman at his side though. Oh man, I will never forget his great matches at Wimbledon. After all he is the best tennis player that ever came out of Germany.

Fringe is not that good, bummer. Then I have to wait for Dollhouse.
But you saw Ultraman, any chance he wore his superhero outfit? Guess not, but I loved that show.
Cool - i didn't know that Jerry O'Connell was an Actor in "Stand by me" - it's one of my favorite Childhood Films.
Anyone remember him on "Tomcats" ? - one of the funniest Movies i ever saw.
Nice to see that some of the Child-Stars are still in the Business.
Naja lang ists her.
Ach ja, es wäre tol, wenn Du mal einen Bericht über Ground Zero machen könntest, und mal ein paar Bilder und Impressionen hier blogst.
Gruss aus Hamburg, Stephan.
Just saw the first episode of Fringe and I must say, it's not bad and neither is Jackson in his role.
I liked the camera movement a lot. It comes to more than just frames which look like they are to small to cover the actors faces which is fine for a HD show. You can see that they mostly tried to use handheld cams to give the show a more dynamic look especially in those pursuite scences. This is what's making it different from the X-Files. And I think, it's working quite nicely for the pilot. Also, it seems like there are many interesting characters to work with in the future. I'm definitly staying tuned for some more Fringe...
Ich wollte den Boris nicht stoeren. Der saß da mit seinen Kindern beim Essen. Ich finde da gehoert es sich nicht. Ganz abgesehen davon das es nicht das erste mal war das ich ihn so nah gesehen habe.

No, for the Pilot of Fringe costing more han 10 million dollars, it is not good. It is not even nowhere near as good as the Lost pilot. And that is dissapointing. Compared to other shows that hook you in Fringe leaves a lot to be desired. And no, Jackson does not fit the role. Instead of playing a smart intelligent person - who is somewhat mysterious - that he is supposed to play, he plays wisecrack arrogant college kid that he already played on Dawsons Creek. But this is also attributed to his boyish instead of manly looks. They should have cast someone like Rufus Sewell whose looks also would fit a lot more into that role than round face Jackson. But Sewell was cast for another mystery show called 11th hour. Hopefully that one will be better. So far the only interesting character ist the old doc and the reception lady with the robot arm. The rest doesn't really stick out. The main woman is not to look at but also a bit bland. One thing I really liked were the names of places being directly within the picture to show where they are at. But still, no wonder the show is getting mixed reviews already. I will give it 2 or 3 more episodes before I pull the plug. This so far is definitely the most overhyped show this fall.
Yeah, the locations tags where nicely done, but looks like they copied it from Heroes.
I don't deny that maybe Jacksons role could've been better cast. I know it's hard to see him not in his long year Dawson's Creek role but I think he adds some much needed youth/adolescens and comic relief to the series as counterpart to his dad. Considering the background they have given us so far, especially in the father-son relationship, I don't think a person like Sewell would have worked, he's too bad-ass looking.
But I really liked Lost actor Lance Reddick and Denethor, Steward of Gondor as the Doc and I also see some potential in the maybe-big-evil corporation for a nice story line and that is, for me anyway, far more interessting than a good first episode. Overall, there some nice ideas and they have plenty of opportunity to to a great show if Fox isn't going to pull the plug too soon like they did it on Firefly. I will wait how it looks on a weekly-basis.
Lance Reddick was at the lunch too with Jackson. They shoot Fringe in NYC actually. One of my friends worked on the set for a couple of episodes.
Especially because Sewell looks so tough it would have worked. Life without his father, running away from something and traveling to questionable countries makes you tough. Looking at chubby babyface Jackson. it just doesnt come off believable.
Actually, life without a father, running away from something and traveling to questionable countries makes you a weasel with a five-o-clock shadow.
But anyway, it's nice to see a decent show since there is no Lost or T:SCC. And I'm ready to give Pacey a shot at this.
"Lance Reddick was at the lunch too"
And that was not worth mentioning in the first place? Ok, he's not that famous but I believe a lot know him...
Yeah, Iraq really is the place that cowards run off to... lol! It were a different story if you ran off to hawaii or something but not this way.
Yes, I think Lance Reddick wasnt and still isnt worth mentioning because barely anyone knows his name. Most people already dont get who Kristen Johnston is and she is more famous.
Yeah, thouht so. Anyway, I like him. He actually has this mysterious look that Jackson is missing. Maybe it's lack of expression, though.
"Slick" weasel because he is running off to Iraq. Who would search him there? Those people looking for him would think: "Nah, he can't be in Iraq. He's not tough enough for this."
Ha, I only envy you seeing Joshua Jackson. And not because his show might be good or not, simply because he is REALLY good looking. :D
Have a good day!
Yes, T:SSC is back!! And what an opener for season two.
Waaaa....h das ist ja GEIL, Du hast Jerry O'Connell gesehen?! VOLL COOL! Ich will auch!
